Overview

BBMV is a civil engineering partnership between four of the world’s leading construction companies – Balfour Beatty, ALPINE BeMo Tunnelling, Morgan Sindall and VINCI Construction. The partnership was established to deliver the Crossrail project, the largest addition to the railway networks in the South East in over 50 years.

In 2011, Windsor Waste Management tendered and won the contract to deliver total waste management services to BBMV for the duration of the Crossrail project. In the first six months, Windsor Waste Management delivered over 95% diversion from landfill on two initial sites in Whitechapel and Finsbury Circus.

Service delivered

Since August 2011, Windsor Waste Management has been providing a wide range of waste and recycling services to BBMV for a variety of commingled and single source waste streams including wood, mixed construction waste, canteen waste, waste oil and batteries.

We supply BBMV with storage systems including skips, waste safes for paint and other hazardous materials, tanks for waste oil, 200 litre drums for oil absorbents and oily rags, and specialist containers for batteries and fluorescent tubes.

We then collect all wastes, recycling as much as possible and recovering the rest for energy-from-waste. Windsor Waste Management provides advice, clear signage and toolbox talks to help ensure good onsite practices and enable BBMV to reach high recycling rates.

Results achieved

In the first six months, Windsor Waste Management delivered over 95% diversion from landfill on both initial sites in Whitechapel and Finsbury Circus. Through our knowledge of the industry, we have since identified and secured innovative treatment processes, enabling us to offer 100% diversion from landfill to BBMV from February 2012.
