Windsor Waste Management is taking part in the UK’s biggest road safety event, Road Safety Week (18-24 November), coordinated by Brake, the road safety charity, and sponsored by Specsavers and Kwik Fit. This year, thousands of organisations, schools and community groups are being encouraged to step up for safe streets and shout about, learn about, and celebrate the design led solutions which can eliminate death and serious injury from the roads.

As part of the campaign, Windsor Waste Management will be taking part in a range of activities within our organisation to promote safer driving for our fleet team and staff. Activities will range from promoting safe driving tips, road safety quizzes and a focus on bike safety, to the launch of some new policy and procedures integral to the safety of our operations. Every 20 minutes, someone is killed or seriously injured on a British road. Each of these tragedies has a devastating effect on families and local communities. This year’s Road Safety Week theme, ‘step up for safe streets’, is focussing on the safe systems approach – the design led solutions that can prevent these tragedies and make local roads safer.

Faye Windsor, Group Operations Director commented: If everyone can play their part in promoting safe driving and safer roads, we can go some way to reducing these devastating statistics. With the safety and wellbeing of our staff being of paramount importance, Road Safety Week follows a successful Healthy Eating week which took place earlier this year, if we can replicate the success of this we will be very happy.
