Waste Cost Reduction Services (WCRS), sister company of Windsor Waste Management, has announced its collaboration with global certification company, UL (Underwriters Laboratories), to bring a zero waste to landfill accreditation to the UK and help companies and all waste producers authenticate their claims.

Standard UL ECVP 2799 Zero Waste to Landfill provides independent validation to waste to landfill claims and recognises companies that deal with their waste in innovative and environmentally responsible ways.  The standard was developed by worldwide certification and validation company, UL, and has three levels each of which require a percentage division threshold, with the top level of 100% diversion from landfill. UL Environment, a business unit of UL, operates the program and delivers the validation.

Tony Windsor, Managing Director, WCRS and WWM says: “With zero waste to landfill statements produced by organisations themselves or their waste partners, they lack independent validation.  We have signed this pioneering deal with ULE to bring equality and credibility to claims and ensure that zero waste really means zero waste”.

A manufacturer of commercial and residential roofing, GAF, was the first company in the world to achieve the standard in February.  WCRS is currently working with some manufacturers to achieve the first accreditations in the UK.
