Segregation for separate disposal of plasterboard does not need to be an extra burden. If this change is likely to affect you, then may we strongly advise a telephone call to discuss the matter further with either Chris, Eileen or Mark. As always, Windsor Waste Management can advise you on the most suitable approach to manage this government regulation change.
It comes as no surprise to learn that the Environment Agency is to tighten up on the disposal of used plasterboard. Landfilling of gypsum and other high sulphate bearing wastes, with biodegradable waste, has been prohibited since July 2005. The Environment Agency has, up until now, taken a pragmatic view that small amounts (up to 10% per load) of this type of waste could be landfilled with biodegradable waste. A change of stance however is to be introduced to take effect as of 1st January 2009, which means that this process will be unacceptable.
