The theft of an enclosed container from, full of fibrous asbestos, has the potential of inviting an environmental disaster. Such an incident does not bear thinking about.

Yet we see a noticeable increase in stolen containers from sites, mostly collected by bogus operators. It is a waste producer's "Duty of Care" to ensure the highest security of hazardous and dangerousd goods on site at all times. Better to be safe than experience the headaches dealing with police, fire brigade, HSE, EA and insurance companies through a gatekeepers oversight.  

• Play it Safe
• Regularly review site security.
• Instruct Site Managers / Gate Security to demand driver/company ID for all asbestos container collections.
• Note vehicle registration on paperwork

Ensure you use a suitably licensed and ISO audited waste company as this will help eliminate opportunities for rogue waste companies.
